Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée Is Awarded a Star in the Hachette Wine Guide

Reims, October 2019.

For the second time, Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée champagne has been awarded a distinction by the Hachette Wine Guide, the definitive guide to French wines.

In the 2020 guide, just published, Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée Brut has one star, signifying a “good wine.”

The Hachette Wine Guide’s assessment of Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée Brut champagne states “(…) This brut emphasizes red grapes (85%), with pinot noir in the lead (70%). Its richness is coupled with a frisky vivacity, underlined by green apple and citrus notes. Its grapefruit finish suits this champagne for aperitifs and fish and other seafoods.

The champagne Chanoine Frères Reserve Privée Brut gets a star in the Hachette Wine Guide

The House is proud that Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée has once again been favorably noted by the Guide, with its independence, selectivity, and high reputation. It is a mark of recognition of the quality and consistency of our wines. This new star is also a reward for the work done by Isabelle Tellier, Head Wine-Maker, for whom naturalness in wines and respect for the typicality and specific tastes of the grape varieties are of high importance.

Isabelle Tellier is a gourmet Head Wine-Maker who is passionate about matching food and wine. She advises serving Chanoine Réserve Privée Brut champagne with a roast lamb or lobster ravioli, or with Champagne lentils and salmon. As for cheeses, Isabelle suggests savoring this champagne with a Chaource, Comté, or Parmesan.

Under the Hachette Guide methodology, the wines are tasted blind, collegially, by professional tasters; the members of the jury do not see the label or know the name of the producer.
